Your selected question

Q: Do I pay an excess if I make a claim on my home insurance?

A:

For policies starting before 25/10/2018 your chosen excess of £50, £100, £150 or £300 applies to each claim except for buildings claims relating to subsidence, heave or landslip to which a £1,000 excess applies.

On all other policies your chosen excess of £50, £100, £150 or £300 applies to each claim except for:

  • buildings claims relating to subsidence, heave or landslip to which a £1,000 excess applies
  • escape of water claims under both building and contents policies a £250 excess applies (£500 if a claim is made on both).

On all policies, there's an excess of £50 for personal possessions, £250 for Legal Expenses (for nuisance and trespass claims), but there's no excess to pay for HomeRescue Plus.
