Your selected question

Q: Are there any significant exclusions and limitations of the pet insurance policy?

A:

Classic Policy exclusions:

  • The pet must have an annual dental examination by a vet in order to be able to submit a claim for dental treatment.
  • Your insurance doesn't cover any illness which starts in the first 14 days of the policy or any pre-existing conditions
  • If your pet was ill or injured at any time before your insurance started we won't cover any costs relating to that illness or injury. This is in addition to any specific exclusions in your policy
  • This policy covers an illness or injury for 12 months only. The 12 months starts on the date the injury happened or the illness was first noticed and after this time we won't cover any further claims for that or any related injury or illness
  • Alternative and complementary treatments aren't covered by this policy, unless it is physiotherapy or treatment of a behavioural illness carried out by a veterinary practice
  • Your insurance doesn't cover any charges made for the completion of claim forms
  • If your pet is 10 years old or over, or 7 years old or over for Select Breeds, in addition to the fixed excess you'll have to pay for Veterinary Fees, Complementary Treatment Fees and Travel Veterinary Fees, you'll also pay a percentage of all treatment costs
  • You must send us your Veterinary Fees claims within 12 months of the treatment start date
  • Cover for Death from Illness stops on your pet’s 8th birthday or if your pet is a Select breed, its 5th birthday.

Additional exclusions may have been included on the policy for your pet. If applicable, these are shown on your Certificate of Insurance Pet Details.
